Customs Duties & Import Fees

We're excited to ship our handcrafted items worldwide; however, it's important to understand the potential additional costs associated with international orders:

  • Customs duties and import taxes are the responsibility of the recipient.

  • These fees are not included in our prices or shipping costs.

  • The amount varies by country and the value of your order.

  • For U.S. customers: Orders under $800 are typically exempt from import fees. Please keep current exchange rates in mind as $800 is not equal to £800.

We cannot predict or pay these charges on your behalf. To avoid surprises, we recommend checking your country's import regulations and duty calculators before placing an order.

Packaging

Orders are packed securely in reused and recycled materials whenever possible.

Materials

Metalwork

Each piece we create is matched with the best steel for its intended purpose, factoring in versatility and durability. Mild steel is used for most home goods, and tool steel is used for knives, hammers, garden tools, and other high-wear items that require exceptional strength and edge retention.

Pieces intended for indoor use are given a traditional protective layer of beeswax, while outdoor products need a coat of heavy duty weather-resistant paint or clear coat to prevent rust.

Woodwork

We love working with a variety of woods for their functionality, sustainability, and natural beauty. Please check the individual product description for details, but favourites include oak, cherry, and sapele.

Product Care

Metalwork

Interior pieces

  • Dust with a soft, dry cloth

  • For tougher dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately

  • Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners

  • As needed, reapply the protective beeswax coating — apply warm beeswax and buff with a soft cloth

Exterior pieces

  • Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners

  • Clean with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed

  • Dry thoroughly to prevent rust

  • Reapply protective paint as needed, and touch up chips promptly to maintain protection

Woodwork

Wood is a natural material that responds to changes in humidity and temperature.

Cutting boards

Your cutting board may slightly expand in humid conditions and contract in dry conditions. This is normal and does not affect the board's functionality. You may also notice a slight bend when one side of the board becomes more damp than the other side — this is also a normal function of wood and should resolve when the board dries out.

  • Always hand wash and dry immediately after use

  • Never soak the board or leave it in standing water

  • Never put it in the dishwasher

  • Oil both sides of the board evenly to maintain balanced moisture

  • Store the board on its edge to allow air circulation on all sides

  • Avoid placing the board near heat sources or in direct sunlight

Our specially formulated Wood Balm is a blend of food-grade mineral oil and beeswax that helps protect your cutting board:

  • Apply regularly, especially when the wood appears dry

  • Use a soft cloth to rub it into all sides, including edges

  • Buff any excess with a clean cloth
